What’s the story behind our rebrand?
Cambridge-based product development specialists Fen Technology announce the re-branding of their expanded new product development business.
We’ve evolved!
Fen Technology and Wright Design have joined forces under a new name: Forward NPD.
Together, we offer a complete end-to-end product development service — from concept creation and industrial design, through mechanical design, electronic systems engineering and software development, to manufacturing introduction and support.

Why rebrand?
Fen Technology acquired Wright Design in May 2024, adding industrial and mechanical design expertise to the capability of highly experienced teams in electronic engineering and software development.
Twelve months on from the acquisition, clients have really seen the value in having a partner who can take a coherent view of the total product development challenge and meet every aspect, from concept through to manufacture.
Rebranding to Forward NPD fully captures the combined force of the two businesses. Together, we provide a complete new product development service that spans everything from initial ideation and concept development through the early design phases of product development into hard engineering development of technology-driven products.
“For me, the exciting thing is that the combined entities really are delivering on an end-to-end mission,” says MD Steve Baker. “There is a logical appeal to the story, but the reality is that we’re able to deliver compelling work right across these teams. From ‘soft’ stuff (will users respond better to this or to that?) to ‘hard’ stuff (have you, or have you not, met all the regulatory requirements?), and all the way through to manufacturing introduction.”
Why ‘Forward NPD’?
The new name reflects the spirit of the company and the way services are delivered across the different areas of New Product Development.

There is also a nod to both companies’ foundations with the F for Fen, and WD for Wright Design woven into the name itself.
Currently based on two sites in central Cambridge and Oakington, we are perfectly placed within the Cambridge tech cluster to support clients in the innovation ecosystem and beyond.
